VERITAS File System, VERITAS Volume Manager and VERITAS Foundation
Suite to Support Fujitsu Siemens Computers' GP7000F Range of Servers
VERITAS(R) Software Corporation (Nasdaq:VRTS), the industry's leading enterprise-class application storage management software provider, today announced that Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading IT company in Europe, has selected VERITAS Software to enhance its enterprise-class range of Solaris/SPARC64-based GP7000F servers.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will package and price-list VERITAS File System(TM), VERITAS Foundation Suite(TM) and VERITAS Volume Manager(TM) with its platform, positioning itself to provide more scalable and reliable enterprise servers to its broad customer base.
"This is an outstanding opportunity for VERITAS Software from both a customer-benefit and strategic point of view, as it provides us with an opportunity to capitalize on the extensive customer base Fujitsu Siemens Computers holds throughout Europe," said Steve Colman, vice president of strategic alliances and worldwide OEM operations, VERITAS Software.
"VERITAS Software will be able to leverage the strong field sales organizations of both companies to provide customers complete product and support offerings through Fujitsu Siemens Computers' line of trusted hardware; we look forward to this introducing numerous opportunities to work together in the near future."
"Our new Solaris/SPARC64 based GP7000F servers meet the requirement of server applications, such as data center, e-commerce and large enterprise applications, such as Online Transaction Processing, Enterprise Resource Planning, Customer Relationship Management and Data Mining. At CeBIT, we introduced the new GP7000F 32- and 64-way servers and later this year, we will announce a 128-way server model," said Dr. Joseph Reger, vice president strategic marketing at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
"Mainframe class high availability is a key distinctive feature of GP7000F servers and with VERITAS Software, we enhance this functionality to protect, access and manage business-critical application information."
This agreement with Fujitsu Siemens Computers significantly expands upon an existing long-standing relationship VERITAS Software has held separately with both Germany's Siemens AG and Fujitsu of Japan. For several years, Siemens has been bundling VERITAS File System with selected hardware; this extension will add new products to its offering and compatible, scalable support for its recently adopted Solaris operating system architecture.
