PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2000
Janex International Inc., (OTC BB: JANX,) Tuesday announced it has released the Beta version of its new proprietary children's Internet browser.
The Beta version is now downloadable from the oKID.com web portal http://www.okid.com. The full operating version, (oKID Surfer 1.0) is scheduled for release on CD-ROM in the second quarter of 2000 and will include expanded capabilities such as full motion video, downloadable interactive educational sound tracks, and proprietary child safety features.
Vincent W. Goett, chairman and chief executive officer of Janex International stated, "The Internet is a wonderful medium for the delivery of information and should be a safe environment for our children's use.
"We hope to make oKID Surfer 1.0 the Internet Browser of choice for kids and their parents. Having children of my own, I am very pleased Janex has developed this proprietary software making Internet surfing content-safe for kids of all ages."
Janex's new web browser gives parents the opportunity to provide their children with a fun and exciting web interface that includes a variety of interchangeable desktop appearances corresponding to the oKID characters.
The release of oKID Surfer 1.0 in the second quarter of this year will include three distinct parent controlled Internet access modes: child safe, child sensitive, and unrestricted.
This new web browser incorporates a proprietary URL targeting system in the child safe mode to secure the integrity of the surfing environment, and an enhanced URL filtering system in the child sensitive mode for broader, yet controlled Internet access.
The oKID browser functions in unrestricted mode similar to that of any traditional web browser providing unlimited access to the Internet. The settings for all three access modes are password protected to ensure parental control.
Janex will also offer unique new interactive advertising opportunities to its content partners, manufacturing partners, and major distributors of high quality children's products in the areas of entertainment, education, games, and toys with the release of oKID Surfer 1.0. Janex's innovative advertising delivery system is a new concept utilizing a unique blend of interactivity between the Internet, CD-ROM, and DVD formats.
This unique delivery system makes it possible for advertisers to provide consumers with information to increase product brand awareness in expanded formats such as full motion video or high density graphics that interface with the Internet to access current pricing, product availability, and online purchasing without experiencing traditional bandwidth limitations.
This interactive advertising medium is scheduled for release with the oKID Surfer 1.0 version and is expected to produce significant advertising revenue for Janex in the third and fourth quarters of 2000.
Janex is a multi-faceted children's product company centered on the innovative web portal and virtual world http://www.okid.com.
This unique corporate philosophy exemplifies the forward thinking of Janex's management as demonstrated by their online Business-to-Business (B2B) sales and distribution network, retail sales strategy and the Janex line of entertaining and educational children's products including interactive games, toys, and publishing utilizing the company's patented Talking Pages(R) technology.
All of Janex's products can be purchased both online in the oKID shopping mall and at traditional retail outlets.
