Semiconductor Industry Giant Donald Brooks Joins Syntricity's Board of Directors; Web-Based Data Management Software Start-Up Poised for Growth

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2000

Syntricity Inc., the leading innovator in Web-based data management software used in the semiconductor industry, announced today the addition of Donald W. Brooks to its Board of Directors.

Brooks is the chairman of KLM Capital Group of San Jose, as well as a private investor and advisor to many high technology companies. "The addition of Don to our board is a significant validation of our market and product focus," said Jeff Teza, Syntricity's president and chief executive officer. "His knowledge of the semiconductor industry is unparalleled."

Brooks' career as a corporate executive in the semiconductor industry has spanned more than 30 years. From 1991 to 1997, he served as president of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) (NYSE:TSM). Under his leadership, TSMC was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1994 and has since become the largest independent semiconductor foundry in the world, with a market capitalization of US $11 billion. Brooks previously was president and CEO of Fairchild Semiconductor Corp. and vice president of Texas Instruments where he served as general manager of its MOS business. Under his management Texas Instruments developed a reputation as a leading supplier of MOS memories.

Brooks is also currently a member of the board of directors of United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) of Taiwan (Taiwan Stock Exchange 2303).
