SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000
NovaStor Corp. (www.novastor.com) announced the release of NovaNet-WEB 3.5, the first online backup software product to include support for Microsoft Windows 2000.
NovaNet-WEB 3.5 also includes several new enhancements making it the most convenient way to protect critical business data on laptops and desktop workstations over the LAN, WAN and the Internet.
One of the more important issues facing network administrators today is providing an effective solution for protecting critical data on laptop and desktop computers. NovaNet-WEB 3.5 addresses this issue with many new enhancements including Windows 2000 support, data recovery from CD-ROM, improved storage management, firewall support and much more.
With NovaNet-WEB 3.5, system administrators can send users a CD-ROM containing their data to restore directly from their own CD-ROM drive. This provides users with a permanent archive of their data and an extremely fast and secure way of restoring a large amount of data when offline.
The user's data is encrypted on the CD-ROM to prevent access from unauthorized users. The built-in firewall support will enable millions of users to back up their data remotely, even when located behind a corporate firewall.
Improved storage management includes customizable quotas for setting a limit per user based on the total amount of data stored on the server. As part of the new quota management capability, users can now remove specific files and directories from the remote server to make better use of their individually allocated storage space.
Peter Means, president and chief executive officer of NovaStor, stated, "We have customers around the world using NovaNet-WEB as their internal backup solution or providing off-site backup services." Means added, "We've delivered Windows 2000 support and a rich new feature that shows NovaStor's commitment to providing the best online backup software available today."
The cost for NovaNet-WEB 3.5 starts at $99.50 per client, including free server software. This is a free upgrade for owners of NovaNet-WEB v3.0 or greater. Owners of NovaNet-WEB 2.0 can upgrade for $9.95 per client license. NovaNet-WEB 3.5 is now available as a download from NovaStor's Web site. NovaNet-WEB is available in English and German language versions.
