PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2000

In a move to help large enterprises rapidly leverage new Internet technologies and address fast-moving business opportunities online, Hewlett-Packard Company today unveiled Managed Web Solutions, an expansion of outsourcing services to help build, host and manage business-to-business (B2B) electronic portals.

"Configuring, sizing and managing our system hardware requirements to meet changing technology demands and the quick pace of our customers has always been a challenge," said Joe Miliziano, chief information officer for Autolink.com, one of the first companies to sign up for Managed Web Solutions. "HP has customized our Web environment to address our specific requirements."

Located in multisite data centers, HP's Managed Web Solutions is designed to help customers move complex and custom business processes to the Web by building, managing and hosting enterprise-size networks, Web farms and storage infrastructures that map to the customer's objectives. Key areas of concentration include helping clients do the following:

       -- achieve company growth from new Internet-based business
          opportunities through business transformation -- moving
          complex and custom processes to the Web;

       -- expose or extend their supply chain in order to reduce
          transaction costs through business migration; and

       -- make the best use of existing infrastructure by integrating
          back-office functions with new front-office operations.

"The increased complexity of global networks and the need to develop new business models have companies looking for options that control IT costs and take advantage of new Internet business opportunities," said David McSavaney, e-services solutions manager for HP Outsourcing. "HP has 250,000 square feet of data centers in locations around the world equipped with industry-leading security options and mission-critical infrastructure. HP has the depth of experience and resources necessary to ensure that large enterprises make the most of their Web opportunities."

Autolink.com is using HP's Managed Web Solutions to create an extensive automotive vertical channel over the Internet. Targeted to dealers, aftermarkets and OEMs, this automotive hub includes customer relationship management, e-procurement and online training.

"HP provided the resources to configure and size our system hardware needs at a time when we really needed our own team to focus on our core competencies," said Miliziano. "Their infrastructure expertise gives us confidence that our Web architecture will be able to meet our needs as we grow and mature."

In addition to Autolink.com, HP has worked with Intelisys, a leading provider of Internet procurement solutions and one of the first to create a Web-based e-marketplace for B2B e-commerce. Intelisys is meeting its goals of providing high-quality customer service and ensuring its Web site will meet ongoing performance measures, as well as reducing its own purchasing costs and cycle time through automation. Intelisys predicts that it will be able to serve more than three million businesses with purchasing power in excess of $900 billion -- thanks to outsourcing services from HP.

"By combining HP's industry-leading experience in managing mission-critical enterprise environments with Intelisys' expertise in developing B2B e-commerce solutions, we're creating a unique model for helping companies start secure purchasing and trading communities quickly and cost-effectively," said Lloyd O'Connor, chief executive office of Intelisys. "HP has the global delivery infrastructure that's needed to support our e-commerce effort."
