MGM Home Entertainment Promotes Lawrence H. Szabo to Senior Vice President — International Marketing

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 28, 2000
As part of its expansion efforts, MGM Home Entertainment, a unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (NYSE:MGM), has promoted Lawrence H. Szabo to Senior Vice President -- International Marketing, it was announced today by Blake Thomas, Senior Vice President -- Worldwide Marketing for the division, to whom he reports.
Mr. Szabo is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for the Company's rental and sell-through businesses overseas, as well as for overseeing MGM's regional DVD strategies within the Asia/Pacific and Latin American territories. Additionally in his new position, he will play a vital role in creating Web-based consumer advertising, including the current design of an e-commercial for the special edition DVD release of the latest James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

Mr. Szabo most recently served as Vice President -- Asia/Pacific and International Business Administration, where he oversaw all sales efforts for the region. As Vice President, he helped guide both the international marketing and operational transition from Warner Home Video to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment International. He also orchestrated the first ever MGM Home Entertainment trade conference in Japan last year, which achieved 100 percent participation by every major rental and retail dealer in the territory.
He began his tenure at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. in 1992, serving as Manager -- Financial Planning and Strategy for the corporate division. He was promoted to Director soon after, and in 1995, he advanced to Vice President -- Financial Planning and Strategy for MGM Home Entertainment.
Prior to joining MGM, he served as Assistant Vice President for Leifer Capital, Inc., where he participated as a junior principal in the inception of the municipal financial advisory firm. From 1986 to 1988, he worked as an associate for First Interstate Public Finance Company.
Mr. Szabo holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from UCLA and a masters degree in business administration from the Wharton School.
