South Coast Repertory, a leading Orange County arts organization, has received a $10,000 grant from the AirTouch Communications Foundation to support its production of "Amy's View," the acclaimed play by David Hare.
"Amy's View" will have its West Coast premiere at South Coast Repertory on April 7 and will continue through May 14.
A Broadway sensation, "Amy's View" earned a Tony Award for Dame Judi Dench. The play concerns the differing viewpoints of a leading London stage actress and her daughter, who falls in love with a hustling would-be filmmaker.
"Amy's View" will be directed by South Coast Repertory Associate Artist, Mark Rucker.
"As South Coast Repertory continues its 36th year of bringing exciting, thought-provoking plays to Orange County, we are honored to have the support of the AirTouch Communications Foundation, whose commitment to the arts is a tremendous asset to Southern California," said Paula Tomei, managing director of South Coast Repertory.
"Art forms like theater have the ability to enhance people's lives by stimulating their thinking, making them more aware of the world around them, and with that awareness inevitably an enriched world," said Nancy Hobbs, executive vice president and general manager, AirTouch Cellular, California.
"As an Honorary Associate Producer for 'Amy's View,' and a past sponsor of South Coast Repertory programs, we've seen the quality of the organization's work and the impact it's had on the community, and we're proud to once again support their efforts."
AirTouch Cellular is committed to supporting local communities through volunteerism, event sponsorships, and identifying worthy programs and organizations for grant consideration by the AirTouch Communications Foundation.
Established in 1994 by AirTouch Communications Inc., the AirTouch Communications Foundation provides support to non-profit organizations that promote safe communities and offer transitional assistance.
