ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2000
As part of its strategy to be the leading global provider of Internet-centric business applications to small manufacturing and service organizations, apps4biz.com today introduced its Application Service Provider (ASP) partner program, which offers customers and channel partners regional, national and international hosted application options.
Interliant has been selected as a charter member for the hosted application solutions, which will include manufacturing, order processing, inventory management, supply chain management, e-commerce and financial software. apps4biz.com said it expects to select additional ASPs in order to offer customers a choice of services. Interliant and the other ASPs will host apps4biz.com's solutions to small businesses (between $1 million -$50 million).

apps4biz.com's ASP approach offers customers reduced risks, no up-front capital and requires no additional information technology infrastructure. Its thin-client applications are ideally suited for this approach, employing only a few different screen formats vs. hundreds for similar systems. The incorporation of this simple design change means that the applications run smoothly and with lightening speed over the Internet because the screen formats are often small enough to be cached on the client, which leaves only the data required for a given transaction to flow through the connection.
"Having a strong ASP program in place is a critical step in launching our Internet-centric products," said Peter Lopes, vice president of marketing for apps4biz.com. "All of our selected ASP partners will provide 24x7 service and offer superior security, performance and communications capabilities so that customers can run their business securely and efficiently over the Internet or dedicated lines. In addition, some partners will provide regional, national and even international hosting services -- so that customers have maximum flexibility in meeting their business needs. We are excited to kick off the program with an ASP of the stature and experience of Interliant."

According to Jesse Bornfreund, senior vice president of strategic alliances for Interliant, "I anticipate a strong relationship with apps4biz.com because of our shared understanding of Microsoft tools and technology, vertical market solutions and the needs of small businesses." He added, "Our Web-based application rental service at AppsOnline.com for small businesses and individuals is a great forum for apps4biz.com products."
apps4biz.com's applications will be marketed primarily through the company's channel partners, many of whom do not have ASP capabilities. The ASP program enables channel partners to offer complete hosting solutions with a wide range of hosting choices. For smaller businesses ($1 million to $5 million), apps4biz.com will market its offerings directly through its telesales organization. The new program enables these companies to select hosting options directly through apps4biz.com, which will develop relationships with local channel partners for ongoing support and services.
