CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2000
Artisoft(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: ASFT) and MediaCom today announced the availability of a new least cost routing (LCR) solution that allows small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and corporate branch offices to lower their phone bills by automatically obtaining inexpensive rates on every call placed. Artisoft has integrated TeleVantage(R) 3.0, the company's open, standards-based software PBX, with MediaCom's LCR software. This solution is available through Artisoft's exclusive network of value-added resellers.
Using MediaCom's LCR technology, TeleVantage automatically selects a low-cost rate for every long-distance phone call - whether it is an interstate, long-distance, local toll or international call. Based on the date, time, origin and destination of the call, TeleVantage dynamically compares different rates and places the call over a low-cost carrier, saving businesses up to 66 percent on their phone bills. Unlike traditional LCR approaches, MediaCom continuously updates the rate information, ensuring that TeleVantage customers stay up-to-date without needing to make any changes to their system.
"We have been using TeleVantage with MediaCom's LCR technology and are very pleased with its performance," said Jim Kerr, president of Team ITG, a value-added reseller of converged voice and data solutions. "TeleVantage automatically finds the best rates for any call during any time of day, which saves us the time it takes to choose a long distance provider. Best of all, we have achieved significant savings on our long-distance phone bills in the first month alone."
TeleVantage provides intelligent call management, ACD functionality, IP Telephony, Web browser capability and messaging features for up to 96 trunk lines and 264 extensions. It is a flexible, upgradable software solution that operates on Windows NT systems and uses off-the-shelf computer, wiring and telephony hardware. When synchronized with networked desktop PCs, TeleVantage enables PC users to see and hear voice messages, graphically manage their own calls and integrate phone and e-mail messaging.
"We are very pleased to partner with Artisoft to deliver LCR service to TeleVantage customers," said Frank Trimboli, vice president of sales for MediaCom. "TeleVantage 3.0 is a best-of-breed software-PBX and the logical choice for integration with our LCR technology. Together, we provide users with an additional way to save money with their phone system."
"TeleVantage's ability to easily integrate with leading technologies like MediaCom demonstrates the value and flexibility of an open, standards-based telephone system," said Steve Manson, senior vice president and general manager of Artisoft. "We will continue to pursue additional technologies to integrate with TeleVantage, in order to provide our customers with the most advanced phone system available."
TeleVantage 3.0 is now available for purchase exclusively through Artisoft's network of value-added-resellers (VARs).
