MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2000

OMIX, Inc., a leading developer of next generation e-commerce and Internet applications, today announced that BestOffer.com, a start-up company dedicated to providing consumers with a better way to buy and sell a used car, has added online auctions to the comprehensive set of services available on the BestOffer.com Web site.

The site, www.bestoffer.com, allows consumers to register an automobile for sale and schedule an onsite mechanical inspection of their vehicle. Buyers are able to create profiles of their dream cars, research specific models, and purchase cars through auction. "BestOffer.com has huge potential," said Kyle Hurlbut, Vice President for OMIX. "Their total service, online approach could redefine the used car marketplace. In fact, I just sold my Ford on their site today and the process was so much easier than running a classified ad."

OMIX engineered the site using a three tier architecture consisting of a database, Web server, and application server, which serves up dynamic content via Java Server Pages and utilizes Enterprise JavaBeans to handle the business logic necessary to run hundreds of auctions simultaneously. "Our business is built on providing up-to-date and accurate information on used cars being auctioned on our site. Therefore, it was vital that our site be built with technologies that guarantee performance, reliability, and scalability," said Jeff Reed, Co-Founder and President of BestOffer.com. "OMIX engineered and delivered a cutting edge solution that exceeded all our requirements."
