iBEAM Announces Agreement With AOL; Internet Broadcast Network Technology Will Help Improve AOL Members' Streaming Media Experience

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2000

iBEAM Broadcasting Corporation, an Internet broadcast network, announced today an agreement with America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company (NYSE:AOL) under which iBEAM will deploy its streaming media distribution network in the AOL network.

iBEAM will utilize its Internet broadcast platform to deliver uninterrupted live streams directly into the AOL network, giving AOL's more than 21 million members direct access to streaming content through the iBEAM network. In addition, under the agreement, iBEAM will make guaranteed payments to AOL.

iBEAM's broadcast infrastructure is designed to bypass the packet loss and congestion sometimes associated with the Internet backbone to provide streaming content directly to AOL's member community and to visitors to its Web-based brands. iBEAM's Internet broadcast network is designed to deliver live and on-demand streaming media, which is fed via a hybrid satellite and fiber network to iBEAM media servers at the edges of the Internet.
