NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2000
Transbeam Chooses Paradyne's Hotwire(R) GranDSLAM
for the Rollout of its High-Speed Data and Voice Services
Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) Transbeam and Paradyne Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:PDYN), a leader in high-speed network access solutions over copper wire, today announced that Transbeam has chosen Paradyne's Hotwire DSL solution, along with Jetstream Communications' CPX-1000 broadband voice services platform and IADs, to deliver high-speed Internet access and derived Voice over DSL (VoDSL) services in the New York metropolitan area.
A brief video describing the Paradyne-Transbeam relationship is available at http://www2.paradyne.com:554/ramgen/Transbeam.rm. (Requires Real Player)
Transbeam will initially install Paradyne's multiservices, ATM-based DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM), the Hotwire GranDSLAM, in approximately 50 Bell Atlantic central offices (COs) by the end of second quarter 2000, with additional installation in several hundred COs planned within the next two years.
"The entire relationship (between Paradyne and Transbeam) is absolutely phenomenal and untouchable," said Marc Sellouk, Transbeam's president. "The ATM solution on their GranDSLAM, the 8820, has all the features that network service providers need, with the second-generation ATM fabric and QoS (Quality of Service) capabilities that today's killer DSL apps demand."
"A growing number of CLECs have chosen Paradyne's Hotwire family of DSL products to leverage the convergence of voice and data services with DSL technology," said Frank Wiener, vice president of Broadband Access Solutions for Paradyne. "We are thrilled that Transbeam chose Paradyne to support their rollout of high-speed Internet services."
"Jetstream is pleased to be involved in this deployment with Transbeam," said Brad Mandell, vice president of sales for Jetstream. "Both Paradyne and Jetstream have devoted a significant effort pursuing interoperability, and this opportunity is just the first of many where all parties involved will benefit."
Paradyne and Jetstream have partnered through the Hotwire Connected(TM) program for DSL interoperability. The program consists of two key elements: technical certification that the third-party endpoints and gateways interoperate with Paradyne's Hotwire DSLAMs, and joint marketing initiatives to proliferate market deployment of high-speed voice and data DSL services. Industry-leading DSL CPE and VoDSL gateway providers have partnered with Paradyne to develop the program.
