Anticipated PlayStation 2 Computer Entertainment System

Midway Games Inc. (NYSE:MWY), a leading software industry publisher and developer, is introducing its Midway Sports Asylum(TM) brand, its Midway(R) Tournament Network (MTN) arcade technology and is previewing an all-new line-up of multi-platform and PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system video game titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3Expo) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, May 11-13.

Midway is unveiling its all-new "Midway Sports Asylum" brand, which provides an incredibly entertaining solution for the gamer who is tired of the cluttered sports simulation video game category. Midway Sports Asylum branded games set players loose with a line-up of unrepressed, over-the-top and almost primal arcade-style sports games. The brand was created to address the needs of the sports enthusiast and other game players who want a really fun, fast and great-looking gaming experience, without a lot of complication.

In addition, Midway is introducing the Midway Tournament Network (MTN), an online tournament system running on Midway coin-operated video games, which will ultimately allow players across the United States to compete for cash and prizes in skill-based tournaments. MTN provides players with all-new reasons to practice their favorite Midway games at home, and bring their skills back to the arcade for a chance to compete in the ultimate video game tournament. Players who achieve high scores on MTN games will gain notoriety on the MTN Web site. Future MTN games will also include a digital camera, allowing the game to take players' pictures and download them to the Web site, adding to their fame.

Developing graphically impressive arcade-styled games for all viable platforms, Midway is introducing a slew of electrifying new titles including the return of its key franchises: "NFL(R) Blitz(TM) 2001," "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2," "San Francisco Rush(R) 2049" and "Gauntlet(R) Legends."

Midway Sports Asylum Titles

"NFL(R) Blitz(TM) 2001"

Holding strong to its history of "no refs, no rules, no-mercy" gameplay, "NFL Blitz 2001" sacks the competition with hard-hitting tackles, aerial leaps and exciting new player animations. As the top-rated NFL video game franchise, "NFL Blitz 2001" takes football action way beyond the typical football simulation by immersing the player in high-scoring, adrenaline-fueled gameplay. "NFL Blitz 2001" is licensed by the NFL and PLAYERS INC.

"Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2"

Leaving none of the fun-playing elements of the original "Ready 2 Rumble(TM) Boxing" behind, "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2" delivers seven all-new characters, intense boxing competition, over-the-top action and more of the classic humor that made the franchise famous. Additionally, all eleven of the original fun and quirky characters are back in "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2," with updated costumes, special moves, taunts and "rumble flurries" unique to their own fighting styles. New this year are celebrity boxers and all-new round girls who enter the ring with their own distinctive flair and personalities. Taking advantage of the latest in digital technologies, "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2" brings an entirely new standard of style and attitude to the boxing ring.

Midway Entertainment Titles

"Gauntlet(R) Legends"

"Gauntlet Legends" for Sega Dreamcast(TM) is the latest version of the arcade-favorite "Gauntlet(R)." This all-new version takes full advantage of the performance capabilities of the Sega Dreamcast with higher resolution geometry, which can mirror the highly detailed and crisp fantasy look found in "Gauntlet" for the arcade. Midway's latest version of "Gauntlet Legends" has four new characters making their home debut--Dwarves, Sorceresses, Knights and Jesters.

"San Francisco Rush(R) 2049"

Set 49 years into the future, "San Francisco Rush 2049" lets gamers speed their way around, down and into the heart of San Francisco. This all-new version of the popular arcade racing hit features battlematch and stunt mode, short cuts with hidden passages and a unique online component. With the all-new online component, players will be able to compete with gamers all over the world by uploading and downloading "ghost races" and high scores.
