IUKA, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2000
In a public announcement today, the Lieutenant, Governor of the State of Mississippi, Amy Tuck, announced that North American DataCom, Inc. (OTC BB: NADA) had received certification by the Mississippi Public Service Commission (MPSC) as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) and Interexchange Carrier (IXC). In her statement, the Lieutenant Governor thanked the Public Service Commission for their efforts along with the untiring efforts of Senator Travis Little, who represents the district in which North American DataCom, Inc. (NAD) is located. NAD will begin offering voice, data, high-speed Internet and data storage services from its Mississippi based facilities. NAD plans to co-locate, high-speed ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) and SDSL (symmetric digital subscriber line) switches in Mississippi and across the southeast as interconnection agreements are finalized between NAD and BellSouth. With the addition of ADSL and SDSL services, NAD will be in a position to offer Internet connections at speeds up to 1.5 Megabits per second. The internet service will be packaged with local, in-state, and long distance telephone services. NAD also intends to expand its current wireless operations to provide voice, data, and high-speed Internet services to business and residential customers beginning in late summer.
Robert Crawford, President of NAD, commented that, "As a CLEC, NAD's use of ADSL and SDSL technology brings a more robust, reliable and secure connection to the Internet than traditional dial up services. The traditional internet service will soon be replaced with high speed connections (broad band width) by the ISP (Information Service Provider) companies that will be leading this information technology industry into the future."
Mr. Crawford further stated that, "As NAD expands its CLEC and IXC footprint in the southeast, its digital subscriber services plans to obtain market penetration into commercial and consumer markets through a optical, metallic, and wireless hybrid service system."
