Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), the foremost provider of global, high-performance services for the delivery of interactive Web content, streaming media, and Internet applications, today announced a nationwide seminar series co-sponsored by Microsoft Corp. on streaming media to educate companies on how digital media technology is changing the face of business. The initial seminar in the series will launch today in Washington, D.C.
The series of free half-day seminars will provide attendees with the fundamentals of streaming media, including topics such as how the technology works, how it is being used, how to build a complete streaming media solution, and how to maximize return on investment. Customers who have successfully deployed streaming audio and video in the business, entertainment and education industries will also be highlighted as case studies to illustrate how companies are benefiting from this new technology. Attendees will include technology executives, marketing and sales managers, ad agencies, Web developers, TV and radio executives, production agencies, IT departments, corporate communications, education and training organizations and anyone who needs to explore and deploy streaming audio or video within their Intranet or Web site.
The seminar series brings together Akamai, the leading provider of streaming media delivery services, and Microsoft's Digital Media Division, the developer of Windows Media Technologies. Both companies deliver industry-leading streaming media technology for applications ranging from music, radio, news and events to online training and corporate communications.
"As the Internet increasingly becomes a central part of business and communications, we recognize the enormous role that streaming media will play in the future of the enterprise and entertainment industries," said Dan Fraisl, vice president and general manager of streaming, Akamai. "With substantial experience in streaming media, Microsoft and Akamai are well positioned to bring to businesses authoritative information on the technology and the powerful advantages it provides."
"Customers have told us that digital media technologies and applications are developing so rapidly, that they need more opportunities to learn about how best to leverage it for business advantage," said Dave Fester, general manager of marketing, Digital Media Division, Microsoft Corp.
