ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2000

The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) today announced it will work with Aon Consulting Worldwide and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to conduct a national survey of the worker attitudes in the U.S. technology industry.

The Aon Consulting High-Technology @ Worksm survey will also create the Workforce Commitment Index (WCI) for the U.S. high-technology industry. Results of the study will be released this fall.

Aon Consulting's High-Technology @ Work will define drivers of IT workforce commitment specific to the high-technology industry. The High-Technology WCI will be an important benchmark enabling technology employers across the country to measure their level of workforce commitment against national norms. The information will help employers identify the specific human resource policies and programs that will have the highest recruitment and retention payoff.

The web site for study participation can be found at www.hightechatwork.com . Individuals can complete the survey through May 31, 2000.

"The New Economy has spawned a new worker," stated ITAA President Harris N. Miller. "They value their jobs and their work, and value the flexibility their employers provide. This study will allow employers to gauge their own recruitment and retention strategies against what works for employees. The IT workforce is to the Information Age what iron ore was to the Industrial age, and understanding what drives worker commitment is of enormous interest to our members."

ITAA's recently released study, Bridging the Gap: Information Technology Skills for the New Millennium, is the latest in the Association's series of reports on the state and makeup of the IT workforce. Miller said that Aon Consulting's High-Technology @ Work would complement the extensive work ITAA has done in this area and that the Association would encourage its member companies to ask employees to complete the survey.

The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) provides global public policy, business networking, and national leadership to promote the continued rapid growth of the IT industry. ITAA consists of 400 direct and 26,000 affiliate corporate members throughout the U.S., and a global network of 41 countries' IT associations. The Association plays the leading role in issues of IT industry concern including taxes and finance policy, intellectual property, telecommunications competition, workforce and education, encryption, information security, global trade, online privacy and consumer protection, securities litigation reform, government IT procurement, and human resources policy. ITAA members range from the smallest IT start-ups to industry leaders in the Internet, software, IT services, ASP, digital content, systems integration, telecommunications, and enterprise solution fields.
