LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2000

IT Radio Network, the leading Internet radio network focused on information technology news, is now featuring an in-depth interview with Srivats Sampath, president and CEO of McAfee.com (Nasdaq:MCAF).

During the interview, Sampath discussed the leasing of anti-virus software, cost efficiency and security as a "process."

Sampath discussed the advantages of leasing software as opposed to buying it in a box. "One is when you buy it, it's already outdated. It's already software that's six or nine months old," said Sampath.

"Second is you got to go there, update it, you got to manage it, you got to kind of maintain that piece of software. We felt that there was a better way of doing things, which is an application service provider which delivers the same services inside your browser."

Sampath also discussed the cost savings to the company and the consumers when operating through an ASP model. "The cost saving is what we see that we directly give back to the consumer," said Sampath. "(In a box), we have to price the product pretty high to just realize certain gross margins out of it, whereas on the online model, you're going straight to the customer. The cost and distribution are pennies for us."

Sampath talked about how security has become a process and not as much an insurance process. "You need to kind of get security into your behavior model on the Internet, because if you don't do that, you won't become, you know ... if not collateral damage to what's going on out there or you could even be targeted by these hackers or by these viruses," said Sampath.

"I tell people, you need to take the same level of precaution you take in the real world in the cyberworld and it's very, very important you keep that on top of your mind every time you go out there and browse on the Internet."

The entire interview is available free online in RealAudio (Nasdaq:RNWK) and text at www.ITRadioNetwork.com.
