Five-year Managed Security Services Contract
Valued at $20 Million Provides
Trusted Environment that Enables Xerox to
Confidently Move its Business Online
AXENT Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AXNT), the world's leading e-security solutions provider for e-business, today announced a five-year, $20 million managed security services contract with Xerox (NYSE: XRX) in Europe, the highest grossing contract in AXENT's history. Under the agreement, Xerox will outsource the security of its mobile workforce and new digital business initiatives--including the security services relating to the eProcurement initiative--to AXENT(R) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Secure Network Consulting, Inc. (SNCi).
Beginning this year with several thousand users, AXENT, with SNCi will provide a comprehensive e-security framework against a robust Service Level Agreement that in two years is expected to serve up to 100,000 Xerox customers and employees. By choosing AXENT's ServiceShield(TM) Enterprise Management managed security services offering, Xerox can quickly and safely move its mobile European workforce, including its Field Service Engineers, and business-critical processes and communications to the Internet for an even greater business advantage, including improved customer service, reduced order time and other efficiencies. This includes providing a trusted, secure environment for Xerox's eCommerce initiative, which will leverage the Web to electronically exchange orders from thousands of partners and to automate manual, legacy processes. Xerox's eCommerce secure electronic trading environment alone is expected to save Xerox Europe nearly $20 million dollars annually.
"Xerox is reinventing itself from an analog copier business to a digital document and information technology company. As we embrace an increasingly mobile electronic workforce and new ways of doing business, it is critical that we provide the highest levels of security to create a trusted environment for the digital workplace," said Jim Lawler, Senior Director and General Manager of XPRESS, Xerox Europe's purchasing group. "Outsourcing security to AXENT delivers Xerox the potential to confidently, safely and more quickly move itself into the digital economy, ranging from eProcurement to new online, remote management of millions of Xerox hardware devices."
Xerox will leverage AXENT's e-security products and services, ranging from its market-leading intrusion detection and assessment products to virtual private network (VPN) and Web authentication offerings. AXENT's trusted solutions are tightly integrated under its visionary Smart Security Architecture, which combines the company's award-winning products and services under a comprehensive Lifecycle Security(TM) framework designed to enable large organizations to quickly and safely embrace open e-business practices. This framework helps organizations achieve a "trust" level--the combination of a confident and reliable environment suited to individual corporate needs.
Leveraging AXENT's Integrated ServiceShield Solution
Top companies, like Digex, Inc., already leverage AXENT's trusted e-security services and expertise. Today's Xerox partnership illustrates AXENT's rapid growth as the top managed security services provider for safe, uninterrupted e-business. AXENT's ServiceShield is the industry's most comprehensive managed security solutions portfolio, helping companies with little time or available security expertise to effectively protect their e-business infrastructure. It provides a complete and flexible array of managed security solutions for today's e-businesses, facilitating trust level management(TM) within an e-security environment that coincides with their corporate e-business policies.
"AXENT's unmatched security expertise, worldwide presence, and broad product line provide Global 2000 organizations like Xerox with the critical information security needed to protect and enable their rapidly-growing e-business initiatives," said Brett Jackson, president and COO of AXENT. "Xerox represents AXENT's most significant managed security service partnership to date. Organizations worldwide continue to turn to AXENT as their trusted e-security partner as they move their business to the Internet."
