System Administrators, Help Desk Personnel Benefit from Speed and

Reliability of pcAnywhere

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced pcAnywhere plus for Tivoli Enterprise, a product that will boost remote support capabilities for Tivoli system administrators and help desk personnel. pcAnywhere is currently the preferred product choice of IT professionals worldwide for remote troubleshooting and helpdesk support.

"Symantec is dedicated to providing enterprise administrators with management tools that support system operations and enhance productivity," said Gail Hamilton, senior vice president, Enterprise Solutions Division, Symantec Corporation. "We are pleased to announce that our award winning pcAnywhere product is now available for Tivoli as part of our family of security and support solutions."

pcAnywhere plus offers Tivoli Enterprise administrators fast and
reliable performance. System administrators and help desk personnel
can:

-- create rules on Tivoli's console that serve as the foundation
for increased reliability and security. For example, if end
users are attempting to run pcAnywhere in a non-secure manner,
Tivoli will be able to locate the pcAnywhere host and
        automatically shut it down.

-- manage local and remote systems via Tivoli Enterprise to
provide support over the network and with low-bandwidth and
        RAS connections.

-- support any managed Windows desktop directly from the Service
        Desk console.

"By joining the Tivoli Ready product partner family, Symantec has gained admission to an important group of leading edge technology companies," said David Murphy, vice president, corporate development, Tivoli. "Adding Tivoli Enterprise functionality to pcAnywhere offers Symantec customers innovative remote management solutions and the highest quality service, support and innovation."

"Symantec has once again proven its ability to create world-class product offerings in the enterprise market," said George Mellor, general manager, BISYS Networking Services located in Newton, Ma. "We are pleased to be working in concert with a company that's committed to creating products that integrate and enhance Tivoli's Enterprise Management Framework."

Tivoli Ready products are those that have met key integration standards for manageability by Tivoli management software. To achieve Tivoli Ready certification, partners can either integrate their products with Tivoli software or embed the Tivoli Management Agent (TMA) within their solutions. In addition to support for Tivoli, pcAnywhere also integrates with other system and desktop managed solutions such as Microsoft SMS and CA Unicenter TNG.

In its purest form, office politics is simply about getting from here to there: securing a promotion, seeing an idea come to fruition, or gaining support to make an organizational change. Playing the game well is about defending your position, earning respect, exchanging favors, and keeping your sanity amid the chaos. To get started, you need to know what you really want from work, then orient your political moves toward those goals. It all starts with strong relationships and helping others; those people in return make up the support system that helps you realize your goals. Here’s how it’s done.
