FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2000
Imperial Majesty Cruise Line, South Florida's only two-night cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, has purchased the S.S. OceanBreeze from Premier Cruise Lines, announced President Arthur M. Pollack. The total value of the deal, including the purchase price and planned upgrades to the vessel, is in excess of $16 million.
"The purchase of the OceanBreeze reaffirms our commitment to the short-term cruise concept and the South Florida market," said Pollack. "We have found a successful market niche and we're going to continue with it, while enhancing the onboard appearance and guest experience."
The OceanBreeze began to sail under its new ownership on May 20th. Imperial Majesty Cruise Line will continue to emphasize personalized attentive service. As soon as practical, Imperial Majesty plans to redesign the hotel, including all cabins and public areas, and will be upgrading all onboard services and activities to further enhance the guest experience. Upgrades will take place this fall, during the vessel's regularly scheduled annual maintenance.
To ensure continuity of the cruise line's service and product, Imperial Majesty has hired the ship's most recent captain, Antonios Psyallakis, as well as other key executive personnel. Additional new members of the management team include Emilio Tsokopoulos as Vice President-Marine Operations and Arnold Deutschl as Director of Hotel Operations.
Imperial Majesty Cruise Line, which has chartered the ship since January 11, 1999, was recently rated #6 in total passengers in the South Florida cruise market and has outperformed most of the area's cruise lines in total occupancy statistics. The S.S. OceanBreeze is a classic lady of the seas, originally christened by Queen Elizabeth II. Imperial Majesty sails every other day from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau/Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
Prices for the two-night cruise aboard Imperial Majesty's S.S. OceanBreeze start at $149 per person, based on double occupancy and include accommodations, all meals, entertainment and port charges. Group rates are also available. With all the amenities of a longer cruise, Imperial Majesty is an ideal quick getaway, the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion, and an enticing introduction for the first-time cruiser. Guests can choose to sail any day of the week, making it an ideal vacation for all schedules.
Amenities and programs include: spacious, tastefully appointed staterooms with private baths; two restaurants - one for a la carte dining and one buffet for breakfast and lunch; state-of-the-art fitness facilities; a multi-level casino; live entertainment in a variety of venues; a complete children's program; as well as a complimentary Captain's champagne reception.
