2000 WinList; Desktop Antivirus Solution Called "The One to Get"
Trend Micro Inc. (Nasdaq:TMIC), a leading provider of Internet content security products, today announced that its PC-cillin(R) desktop antivirus solution has, for the second year in a row, secured a place on Winmag.com's prestigious WinList. Reviewed and tested alongside eight leading antivirus solutions, PC-cillin was recommended and called the "best overall package" by Winmag's panel of judges.
The WinList is an exclusive directory of "the best, most exciting and most powerful" products in a variety of high-tech categories, as determined through hands-on testing by the staff of Winmag.com, the website and online journal that succeeded Windows Magazine in late 1999.
"PC-cillin comes with everything you would expect from a high-end antivirus checker, including automatic downloads, rescue disk creation, and an elegant interface," said Windows Magazine reviewers. "For the best all-around antivirus program, PC-cillin is the tops."
For the review, antivirus products were exposed to over 3000 infectious programs, Trojans, macro viruses, and scripts, passed through email, downloads, and direct file execution. The products were judged by their virus detection rates, detection time, and impact on system resources. Based on its overall performance and value, PC-cillin 2000 was recommended as a stand-alone virus checker for any end user in the market.
The PC-cillin 2000 desktop antivirus solution blocks infectious code -- including malicious Java applets, Active X controls and web scripts -- that can be passed through web sites, emails, network servers, CD-ROMs or floppy disks. PC-cillin 2000 also features web site blocking options to prevent access to predetermined web sites. PC-cillin 2000 was the first antivirus solution to be certified for Microsoft Windows 2000 by VeriTest independent lab services. Its predecessor, PC-cillin 6.0, was previously honored by the editors of Windows Magazine, on the 1999 WinList of outstanding software products.
