Packeteer Names Freitas to Vice President of Operations and Customer Support Position

Operations and Customer Support Veteran Rounds Out Executive Team

Packeteer(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: PKTR), a leading provider of Internet application infrastructure systems, today named Manuel Freitas to the newly created position of vice president of operations and customer support. In this position, Freitas will be responsible for developing and aligning the strategic positioning of the customer support and product operations areas of Packeteer, Inc. in order to support and accommodate the future operational complexities of Packeteer's growing organization. Freitas brings to Packeteer twenty-five years of experience in customer support operations, customer quality assurance, sales and marketing. He will report to Craig Elliott, president and CEO.

Freitas joins Packeteer from Vividence Corporation, where he served as vice president of customer operations. He was responsible for overseeing the company's testing community by working closely with engineering and marketing to improve the product release communication flow. Prior to Vividence, Freitas was a consultant at 2WAY Corporation where he successfully managed to implement a formal beta release plan for product launches. Before joining 2WAY Corporation, he worked at Adobe Systems for nine years where he ran customer support for four years. As Adobe's vice president of customer support, Freitas helped restructure the customer support organization, implementing a worldwide sales and support model and managing third-party outsourcing relationships. Freitas also served as interim vice president, North America sales and support as well as director of systems support during his stay at Adobe Systems.

Prior to Adobe Systems, he worked for nine years in Schlumberger Technologies in various product marketing, quality assurance, and sales positions. Freitas also spent eight years at General Electric as a field service and sales engineer.
