New Technology to Expand Company's Ability to Block Inappropriate Internet Content in Business, School, and Home Markets
Heartsoft, Inc., reported today that the company has filed for patent protection of its proprietary on-line Internet pornography detection software with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The image detection and analysis technology described in the patent application filed on Friday, May 26, 2000, will make its initial debut as part of the advanced security of the company's new secure Internet browser for children, Internet Safari(R).
The application entitled, "Evaluating Graphic Image Files for Objectionable Content," was submitted to the U.S. Patent office in order to protect the highly proprietary image detection software developed by Heartsoft.
The proprietary software empowers any product into which it is incorporated to intercept computer-based graphic pictures and determine with a high level of accuracy whether any specific graphic image is pornographic in nature.
According to Heartsoft, Inc. Chairman and CEO, Benjamin Shell, the filing of the patent application for this new technology will further establish the company within the Internet industry and will lay the ground work for substantial new business opportunities.
"Our proprietary pornography detection technology which was originally developed as a component of the AI-based (artificial intelligence) Internet security software contained within Internet Safari, has shown great promise in opening up new markets which we originally had not conceived, said Shell.
Further Shell commented, "As just one example, we foresee an incredible opportunity within the business market to create a business product which incorporates this new technology into an application capable of blocking pornographic pictures in Internet browsers such as Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer as well as email programs."
"Giving business and governmental agencies the ability to block pornographic pictures directly on an employee's desktop should have a direct impact on their ability to reduce the costs of defending sexual harassment issues," said Shell.
