Business Wire, May 30, 2000
Business Editors
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2000
Leading file transfer and synchronization software developer LapLink.com Inc. announced today that it is extending its partnership agreement with Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC) to bundle LapLink 2000(TM) -- LapLink.com's newest remote access and file transfer software product -- with selected models of Fujitsu LifeBook(TM) mobile computers.
The cornerstone of LapLink.com's Internet product line, LapLink 2000 is the next-generation successor to LapLink Professional(TM) and LapLink Tech(TM) and the only file transfer and synchronization utility to offer LapLink.com's patented SpeedSync(TM) technology. The software will be bundled with all Fujitsu LifeBooks pre-installed with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 Second Edition.
"LapLink.com is focused on bringing highly innovative and intuitive file transfer and synchronization software solutions to mobile professionals worldwide," said Eppley. "Our partnership with Fujitsu presents some very exciting opportunities for both companies to jointly provide mobile users with an enhanced IT package complete with every tool they need to effectively work away from their office."
"Fujitsu PC Corporation is committed to delivering complete mobile computing solutions to our customers," said Sara Nelson, FPC's vice president of marketing. "By teaming with industry leaders such as LapLink.com, we are able to add convenience and performance features that greatly enhance the productivity of our users."
Since its introduction, LapLink 2000 has been lauded as the best communications software available for usability, its powerful remote access capabilities and patented SpeedSync(TM) technology. Highlighted by award-winning remote control and file transfer functionality, LapLink 2000 leverages the power of the Internet to allow end-users to connect two PCs easily and safely across the world wide web. LapLink 2000 offers a full range new security features that include dual-level encryption, sophisticated lockout protection, case-sensitive passwords and folder-level security which provides user control found in no other remote-access software.
LapLink 2000 is Windows 2000 compatible and enables simple connectivity via a local Internet Service Provider. As a result, LapLink 2000 benefits users by eliminating long-distance telephone charges and the need for multiple phone lines. Users also have the capability to establish their own easy-to-remember address, (e.g., e-mail address), in order to establish a connection that allows live chats to remote connections using LapLink 2000's voice chat capabilities. LapLink 2000 also offers LinkToNet, a unique capability which bypasses the network access limitations of modem-to-modem connections and gives remote users complete access to network resources including e-mail, the Internet, network drives and printers by turning their desktop PC into a personal remote access server (RAS).
