REMINDER/TestU Sponsors SAT Preparation Event for New Bedford High School Students; Pilot School Strives to Increase Student Body's Average SAT Score

Business Wire,  May 30, 2000

Business Editors

REMINDER ... May 30, 2000(Tues.)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 2000

WHAT: TestU, the premiere online test preparation company, is

sponsoring an online SAT Prep Event at the New Bedford High School

to prepare students for the upcoming June 3rd administration of

the SAT. Students will be taken through TestU's online SAT

preparation course during a four-hour session. The company is

giving away numerous prizes during the event, including a brand

new Apple iMac computer.

WHO: New Bedford High School Students

Dr. Joseph Silva, New Bedford Superintendent (tentative)

Frederick Kalisz, Mayor of New Bedford (tentative)

Rick Bolton, President and CEO of TestU

Other local education officials

WHERE: New Bedford High School Science Resource Center

230 Hathaway Blvd

New Bedford, MA 02740

WHEN: Tuesday, May 30th, 2:30PM - 6:30 PM

WHY: The New Bedford High School is a fertile testing ground for the

company's SAT Pilot Program. One of the largest and most diverse

high schools in the state, TestU has chosen it for its Pilot

initiative because "if TestU works here, it will work anywhere."

The goal of the New Bedford Pilot is lofty: to raise an entire

school's average SAT score significantly - something no company

can claim to do in the history of test preparation. TestU's

position is that access to high quality test preparation is the

key to improving test scores. TestU hopes to democratize access to

test prep by making it affordable for the masses, with programs

costing as little as $25 per student, rather than hundreds of

dollars. The partnership between the New Bedford School and TestU

hopes to illustrate how schools can supplement their programs with

online education.

SPECIAL LOCAL ANGLE:

Rick Bolton, President and CEO of TestU, was born in New Bedford.

His mother retired from the New Bedford School 2 years ago after

teaching there for 12 years and then working as a guidance

counselor for another 26 years. And his grandmother used to be the

Superintendent for Curriculum for the New Bedford School system

until her retirement in 1976. In keeping with family tradition and

the pursuit to give students the best education possible, Mr.

Bolton is now working for an online test preparation company with

the vision of democratizing test preparation to all students, from

all economic backgrounds.
