SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2000
Loudcloud, Inc., a leading provider of Internet infrastructure services for eBusinesses, today announced the appointment of two prominent eBusiness executives to its management team.
Michael Green joins Loudcloud as vice president of field operations, and will oversee all of Loudcloud's sales and support organizations, as well as drive expansion of Loudcloud sales into Europe and Asia. James Dimitriou has been named vice president of client services, and will be responsible for the growth and expertise of Loudcloud's project management and customer engineering teams. These additions to the executive team reinforce Loudcloud's commitment to world-class customer service and support.
"We are thrilled to have Jim and Mike join our company," said Ben Horowitz, president and CEO of Loudcloud. "Adding executives of this caliber helps Loudcloud deliver the best possible support and services to our customers, and ensures that growth is in the hands of seasoned professionals. With Mike and Jim joining our staff, Loudcloud's dream team gets stronger."
Formerly senior vice president and general manager of worldwide sales and field operations at FORE Systems, Inc., Green helped build FORE into a worldwide company when he joined in 1992. During his seven years at FORE, Green was a key member of the executive staff, which grew the company's annual revenues from zero to more than $600 million. In 1999, FORE was purchased by United Kingdom-based General Electric Company for $4.5 billion. Green chose to come out of retirement to join Loudcloud, to ensure customers receive world-class support and service from a responsive, professional sales and support organization.
"I look forward to helping Loudcloud achieve its potential. That process will start with listening very closely to customers and understanding their requirements, so that we build a sales and support team that continues to respond quickly and even anticipates customers' needs," said Green.
Dimitriou served as a vice president and managing partner at Computer Sciences Corp., and brings to Loudcloud nearly 20 years of experience in establishing and maintaining superior technical consulting teams. At CSC, Dimitriou helped launch the company's Western region consulting practice; during his five-year tenure, Dimitriou helped increase sales more than 700 percent. Under his leadership, CSC added offices in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego and Portland. As part of the Loudcloud team, Dimitriou will manage the engineers who work closely with customers to ensure their successful deployment onto Loudcloud's software and hardware infrastructure, called Smart Cloud(TM) services.
"Building an eBusiness is a difficult process, and I'm pleased to join Loudcloud to make that process nearly effortless for our customers," said Dimitriou. "By tapping Loudcloud, an eBusiness can count on the expertise of some of the world's best engineers to ensure its Web site will scale, and be able to respond dynamically to any changes in the market."
Loudcloud provides eBusinesses -- ranging from high-growth dot-coms to click-and-mortars and ASPs -- with the vital infrastructure services that every business needs to compete on the Internet. Loudcloud customers are no longer required to assemble all the extra pieces that come with deploying a site, such as securing data center space, connecting to the network or ensuring the site is up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By subscribing to Loudcloud's Smart Cloud infrastructure services, customers don't need to procure, configure or maintain the hardware and software needed to run a scaleable Web site.
