Euro RSCG Worldwide's Marketing Services Group Takes a Leadership

Position in Less than a Year of Operation

The Sales Machine, Euro RSCG Worldwide's branded marketing services network, is the second-ranked global marketing services group in the world, according to figures released today by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), the world's largest trade organization for marketing services. In only its first year of operation, The Sales Machine posted global revenue of U.S. $367.5 million earning the group a solid number two ranking worldwide.

An integral part of Euro RSCG's global network, The Sales Machine was launched in July, 1999, and is comprised of 85 agencies in 40 countries offering consulting; direct marketing; sales promotion; event marketing; sales force motivation; and database marketing. Underpinning each of the disciplines is Euro RSCG's expertise and proven ability in interactive marketing. The wide range of marketing services offered by The Sales Machine creates its key point of difference: the ability to focus on business solutions in a completely media neutral environment.

"We're delighted with the terrific success of The Sales Machine and the 20 exciting new companies that have become part of the group over the past year contributing to our amazing growth," said Bob Schmetterer, Chairman and CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide. "The Sales Machine is fundamental to our future success as a communications network because our business is not longer about big creative advertising ideas, it is about big, creative business ideas. Today, branding and selling are at the very center of business strategy."

During 1999, Euro RSCG acquired some of the leading marketing services companies in the United States, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America for its Sales Machine unit, including Devon Direct, one of the leading direct marketing agencies in the United States; Field Force, the largest direct marketing agency in Taiwan and China, and The Tyee Group, one of the U.S.'s leading direct response television advertising agencies.

Headquartered in New York City, The Sales Machine is headed by CEO Daniel Morel. With over 3000 employees worldwide, The Sales Machine's key international clients include Peugeot, Intel, Philips Electronics and Dell Computer. Since his arrival in July, 1998 Mr. Morel has developed an overall strategy to help dimensionalize an already thriving group of agencies and an aggressive approach to acquisitions. According to Mr. Morel, "our strategy was to build a marketing services solution network, not simply a stack of disciplines to check off on a list."

The Sales Machine is a unit of Euro RSCG Worldwide, the fifth largest agency network in the world. Headquartered in New York City Euro RSCG Worldwide is comprised of 202 agencies in 75 countries providing advertising, marketing services, corporate communications and interactive solutions to global, regional and local clients. The network's client roster includes Intel Corporation, WorldCom, Peugeot, Philips Electronics, CNN, Air France and Louis Vuitton.

Euro RSCG is a unit of the Havas Advertising Group, the world's fourth-largest communications group. With its headquarters in Paris and operating divisions based in Paris, New York and Madrid, Havas Advertising brings a multinational approach to its business, which distinguishes it from other major advertising companies.
