NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--May 30, 2000
In response to items which have appeared in the media, it was confirmed today that singer Rod Stewart underwent thyroid surgery on May 12th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The operation was performed by Dr. Allan W. Silberman, a noted surgeon, who stated that the procedure was a complete success and that Stewart has been given a clean bill of health. The surgery took place following a recent routine CAT scan, during which a nodule was discovered in the right lobe of Stewart's thyroid gland. The operation was then scheduled to confirm that the nodule was benign. Stewart's vocal cords were unaffected by the procedure.
This past Saturday, May 27th, Stewart played in a charity soccer match in England. Following an early round win over Robbie Williams' team, Stewart's team went on to reach the semi-finals.
Stewart is currently putting the finishing touches on his next album, due for release this Fall.
