Internet Appliance Inc., pioneer of the multifunction VPN Appliance(TM), has been named a charter member of the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC).

The consortium is a recently formed coalition of companies and engineers with a shared mission of promoting and implementing the Linux operating system in embedded applications.

As a charter ELC member, Internet Appliance will help drive efforts to increase the depth and breadth of Linux adoption in the embedded market and accelerate the speed of that adoption, a role that is expected to increase IA's visibility as a leader in the security appliance market.

"Internet Appliance is an excellent example of Linux' versatility. It's the backbone of the company's multifunction Internet security appliance, the INTERNETpro(TM), which incorporates everything from VPN to a firewall to web-hosting."

About the ELC
