PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2000
Commerce One, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMRC), the leader in global e-commerce solutions for business, and EventSource.com, the leading business-to-business e-commerce network for meeting planning, today announced that Commerce One Auction Services is now available on the newly launched EventSource.com Web site. The new EventSource.com website features personalized web pages for corporate meeting planners, robust content listings, and newly automated auction capabilities.
Commerce One Auction Services offers a real-time Internet bidding solution for buyers and sellers encompassing reverse auction/e-RFQ, forward auction and exchanges. Event planners will be able to use "The Auction" section of the EventSource.com site to participate in real-time auctions, and may be able to save significantly on group room rates and other meeting needs. Hotel and conference properties with available space will be able to compete to provide the best rates and overall meeting packages, based on a planner's meeting specifications. In addition, planners will be able to bid on hotel properties with excess capacity.
"Online auctions are changing the way our customers plan meetings and events," said Brian Langer, founder and vice president business development of EventSource.com. "By working with Commerce One to develop our auction site, we've been able to quickly and easily offer customers a product that is simple for them to use and shows immediate results in time and cost savings."
"We believe adding Commerce One Auction Services to the EventSource.com site provides meeting and event planners with a quick and easy way to find the best meeting space at the best price," said Liron Petrushka, vice president of Commerce One Auction Services. "EventSource.com uses online auctions to simplify and improve the meeting planning process."
In addition to The Auction, EventSource.com's new website features three new components: My Meetings; Resource Center; and Networking & News. Meeting planners who use the free site will receive a telephone call from EventSource.com's team of experienced meeting specialists within 30 minutes of receipt of their information request. EventSource.com's meeting specialists work closely with hotels to respond to a planner's criteria request within 24 hours. Hotels will now have the opportunity to respond online through the site to all requests that are sent to their properties. Planners now have 24x7 web access to their personalized meeting information and can view hotel responses in real-time or at their convenience.
