NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2000

World Leaders in Print magazine, a publication launched in May by Cahners Business Information's Printing, Converting & Creative Group, won the prestigious Ozzie Award for best new magazine design at The Folio:Show 14th annual competition held last week in New York. Selected from among 1,700 entries in 63 categories, World Leaders in Print won for Best New Design, Trade Magazines under 35,000 circulation. Other winners and honorable mentions in the competition included Chatelaine, United Airlines Hemispheres, Popular Mechanics and Inc.

World Leaders in Print was designed by Art Director Jennifer Mordino under the direction of Creative Director Rani Levy. Promotional Art Director Ken Quail designed the logo.

Cahners unveiled World Leaders in Print in May at DRUPA, the world's largest graphic arts exhibition held in Dusseldorf, Germany. The magazine, with a circulation of 28,000, provides management perspective and vision for top executives at the world's largest publishers, packaging manufacturers, printers and creative organizations that develop print products.

World Leaders in Print is the only graphic arts industry publication that concentrates on business management and strategy rather than production technology. Editorial content features interviews with top executives, global business metrics and high quality graphics with cross-cultural appeal. The magazine is published in English, German, Japanese and Spanish, with distribution divided evenly among Europe, Asia and the Western Hemisphere.

The global market for graphic communications is estimated at $1.2 trillion. This figure is dominated by publishing, which accounts for over half the value. Commercial and publication printing output, produced by 400,000 establishments globally, is estimated at $350 billion worldwide; package printing at approximately $200 billion.

"This global community of printers, publishers, package converters, and creative agencies, which has evolved to serve the graphic communications needs of today's multinational corporations faces unique challenges and opportunities," said Bill Esler, publisher of World Leaders in Print. "Most multi-national advertisers think global but market local. As graphic communications becomes more global, the World Leaders brand will be there as an effective marketing vehicle."
