BP Selects Products From Business Objects to Deliver Worldwide E-Business Intelligence

Extranet and Global Enterprise Deployments Will Fuel Stronger
Customer Relationships and Improve Operations
Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ), the world's leading provider of e-business intelligence (e-BI) solutions, today announced that BP, one of the world's leading energy companies, has signed a contract worth more than $1.5 million, to expand its existing use of Business Objects solutions on a global scale throughout its enterprise. BP will also use WebIntelligence(R), the internet e-BI solution from Business Objects, to develop an extranet that will deliver critical information to its customers.
BP, which serves some 10 million customers globally each day, will use Business Objects as their e-BI platform for both its extranet and intranet deployments. BP is the latest customer to base its extranet strategy on Business Objects, the world's leading provider in this category with over 270 extranet customers.
"Business Objects will be a key component of our web-based business activity. The way we do business will be completely different in the future," said Paul Cooke, manager of the business intelligence center of expertise at BP. "What will have a significant impact on our business intelligence is e-commerce, and we expect Business Objects to play an important role in enabling us to meet those evolving business requirements."
BP will also use Business Objects solutions to provide powerful e-BI capabilities to its retail site management, sales, and marketing departments throughout the company. Employees throughout the company will access, analyze, and share information regarding customer behavior, sales, and marketing activity. In addition, BP will now further extend its use of Business Objects solutions across the downstream, chemical, and exploration parts of its business.
