REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2000

J2EE (TM) Technology Support Enables Next Generation of

E-Business Application Platform to Offer Industry's

Highest Level of Support for Open Standards

BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq:BVSN), a leading worldwide supplier of personalized e-business applications, today introduced the next generation of BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise(R) an advanced, reliable and flexible e-business application platform.

BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise Version 6 will add Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE(TM)) support, including support for Enterprise JavaBeans(TM) (EJB(TM)) component architecture, JavaServer Pages(TM) (JSP(TM)) technology and Java Servlet application programming interfaces (APIs). The new Java technology-based features will enhance the already robust support for open standards found in One-To-One Enterprise, which include JavaScript(TM) technology, C , COM, CORBA, XML, XSL, LDAP, WML and WAP. One-To-One Enterprise Version 6 is expected to be one of the only J2EE technology-compatible e-business solution suites that also delivers comprehensive e-business applications, content management, personalization, analytics and wireless support from a single vendor.

With the addition of support for J2EE technology, One-To-One Enterprise customers will be able to customize, extend and modify their BroadVision-based e-business solutions using popular J2EE technologies. For example, support for JSP technology gives customers an easy way to customize BroadVision applications, while EJB connectivity will enable faster integration between BroadVision applications and other systems. Enterprises can reduce development costs and time-to-market for customized solutions using widely available Java programming talent.

Version 6 will extend its support to third-party J2EE technology-compatible application servers. All BroadVision APIs will be exposed in the J2EE technology format, so they can be invoked from a third-party J2EE technology-based application server. Conversely, BroadVision applications will be able to use the J2EE technology protocol to invoke foreign components developed under a third-party server. These new features will allow BroadVision to deliver one of the first, complete e-business application suites designed to ensure interoperability between BroadVision applications and third-party application servers including BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, IONA iPortal and iPlanet(TM) Application Server.

"We chose BroadVision in part because they are an e-business market leader, but also because of their support for e-business platform standards," said Bill Fitzgerald, director of development for Sears Online. "We're looking forward to integrating our current BroadVision applications with new J2EE technology-based functionality."

BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise Version 6 will contain new features that make it easier to design, build and maintain sophisticated systems including enhanced debugging tools and system management enhancements. Version 6 also features an advanced persistent cache mechanism (PCM) that delivers unrivaled performance and scalability.

"BroadVision's applications have always offered high-performance and great scalability on the Sun(TM) platform," said Doug Kaewert, vice president, market development at Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Support for open standards such as J2EE technology will help companies reduce cost and time-to-market in building and deploying successful e-business solutions."

"By supporting the J2EE technology in this new version of BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise, we are once again proving our commitment to delivering the most open and powerful application solutions for e-business," said Dr. Pehong Chen, president and CEO of BroadVision.

BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise Version 6 is scheduled for customer availability on Sun Solaris(TM) Operating Environment and HP-UX(TM) operating systems in the quarter ending March 31, 2000. Version 6 of BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise is designed to be binary backward compatible with its current version 5.5.
