BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2000
US Data Authority, Inc. (OTCBB:USDA), a national Internet network and infrastructure company says it will be among the first to install Cisco's (Nasdaq:CSCO) Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution for faster delivered streaming media.
Unlike other systems, the Cisco CDN network minimizes the amount of hops that streaming of rich media content currently takes through its proprietary hardware and software. Equipped with secure data storage, USDA, a Cisco Powered Network(TM), will be the industry's first to host content, deliver content on its Cisco CDN, and then distribute the content on its own quadruple-redundant network.
"USDA is quickly making a name for itself as `The Authority On Speed,' and the addition of Cisco's end-to-end CDN solution is a significant step to make delivery of rich media to the end user that much faster," said Chris Lynch, Cisco's Director of Sales Operations, Content Delivery Network. "We're very excited about USDA choosing Cisco's unique CDN solution and its serious commitment to the streaming media market."
Cisco's CDN differs from others by providing an end-to-end delivery solution. It delivers and manages content, provides content routing, switching, edge delivery and intelligent network services. This comprehensive delivery method provides a highly available, scalable and secure hosting and an extremely rapid content distribution network. The added control provided by the Cisco solution will allow customers to easily pinpoint specific target markets.
"With its hybrid network of four carriers, and 40 NAPs distributed nationwide that will deliver information technology to the edge, USDA has been designed for optimum Internet delivery speed," said Jack B. Blount, Chairman, President and CEO. "We have the infrastructure in place to provide the high-speed, reliable network, with data storage and now, content delivery services that businesses need. Cisco always has, and will continue to be, part of USDA's one-stop Internet solution."
USDA is building a nationally distributed network-computing environment of 40 locations nationwide. Network computing makes it possible for every business to utilize USDA's powerful and extensive array of software, storage, content delivery, and network access that has been technically impossible or financially prohibitive up to this point, taking the focal point off of the computer and positioning the network itself as the tool to deliver multiple business applications.
