PORTLAND, OR--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 27, 2000
MeasureCast Inc., the first company to provide the streaming media industry with next-day audience size and demographic reports, today announced that Real Broadcast Network (RBN), the webcast hosting solutions division of RealNetworks(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK), has agreed to deploy the MeasureCast Streaming Audience Measurement Service(TM) on its network servers. In addition, the two companies have agreed to conduct joint marketing programs designed to promote and grow the streaming media market.
MeasureCast provides Internet broadcasters, advertisers and media buyers with reports that pair demographic data with true audience size - information essential to making educated advertising purchases in streaming audio and video webcasts. While existing streaming measurement companies deliver results within months of a streamed broadcast, MeasureCast is the first company to provide its customers with accurate and secure data within 24 hours.
"MeasureCast continues to partner with the leading firms in the streaming media industry to promote the benefits of streaming, and to reduce Internet broadcasters' time to profit," said MeasureCast CEO Edward T. Hardy. "After rigorous testing, RBN installed our proprietary streaming audience measurement technology on its servers. This is great news for MeasureCast, and it's terrific news for RBN customers needing the most accurate and timely audience and demographic data available."
"As the largest hosting solutions provider worldwide for on-line radio, supporting over 650 stations, and broadcasting the programming of more than 80 TV stations and cable networks, it is critical to have a third-party measurement service, such as MeasureCast, to provide our RBN clients with the opportunity to receive credible audience measurement in Internet time," said Ian Freed, RBN's general manager. "This agreement with MeasureCast enables our joint customers to measure and analyze the impact of their broadcasts, which in turn will help support the generation of substantial advertising revenue."
With more than 155 million unique registered RealPlayer(R) users worldwide, RealNetworks has long been a pioneering force in development of audio and video Internet services, and is the most widely deployed media delivery system in the world.
