SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2000

Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq:IWOV), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management solutions, today announced participation in the ebXML demonstration. As a key player, Interwoven will be part of a conglomerate in demonstrating ebXML to the Internet business community.

ebXML, chartered by United Nations data counsel, CEFACT, and OASIS, the world's largest independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the standardization of XML applications, defines a standard way to conduct business on the Internet. The activity is designed to cross many business verticals and exchanges while bridging the workings of other standards. The effort has passed the midpoint of its 18-month charter, and the ebXML demonstration marks the beginning of the standard's first functional release.

Interwoven has committed to being part of this demonstration team which is composed of 15 additional vendors including Cisco, Fujitsu, IBM, Sun Microsystems, webMethods, and XML Solutions. The team will be showing interoperability, reliable messaging, dynamic trading partner agreement formation, a registry with classifications, a business process meta-model implementation, and a stable messaging system.

Interwoven was responsible for bringing together the business process interface into the demonstration by showing the ability to form trading partner relationships, a key component of e-commerce marketplaces and exchanges, during the real-time portion of the demonstration.

Key contributors from Interwoven include Dr. John Ousterhout, Interwoven chief scientist, and Dr. Mark Hale. Dr. Ousterhout is committed to expanding the essential component of business relations for Interwoven's customers while Dr. Hale, standards architect for Interwoven, designed Interwoven's trading partner demonstration and worked closely with the Global Commerce Initiative and the Automotive Industry Action Group to align the business conversation and payload in support of the retail and automotive industry vertical demonstrations.

"Interwoven is committed to supporting standards that support the interoperability and business interactions among our customers," said Jack Jia, senior vice president of Engineering at Interwoven. "As the leader in content management, Interwoven will continue to invest in ebXML and push for its adoption."

ebXML participants will meet in Tokyo, Japan November 6-10, 2000.
