Innovative New Application Allows OEMs and Content Providers
to Insert Lyrics, Web Pages, Promotional Offers into MP3 Files;
Product Integrates into InterVideo WinCinema Suite
InterVideo, Inc., the leading developer of PC multimedia software, today unveiled WinRip(TM), its new MP3 player/encoder containing its exclusive, patent-pending InterVideo Data Injection (IDI) technology.
WinRip's unique data injection features give OEMs, content owners, and content aggregators broad new opportunities to extend MP3 music tracks with lyrics, links to URLs, promotional offers and much more, greatly enhancing the user experience for any fan of digital music.
WinRip, which debuts this month in a Lite version at Fall Comdex, also serves as the first audio component in InterVideo's new WinCinema(TM) integrated all-software suite for PC multimedia users. The suite brings a full complement of multimedia applications into one easy-to-use package, giving users a complete and robust multimedia solution that can control virtually all recording, editing, encoding, and playback needs. The full-featured version of WinRip, offering MP3-to-CD/R-RW burning capability and other feature enhancements, will be available in January 2001.
"WinRip changes the whole experience of digital music on the PC by providing a visual connection with the music and the artist," said Tom White, Senior Director of Audio Marketing for InterVideo. "WinRip satisfies the needs of both music fans and the people who produce that music -- fans can now enjoy having song lyrics display in sync with the music, while artists, record companies, and distributors of content can also offer digital content that has added value over CD-based content. WinRip takes the MP3 experience to a new level -- something OEMs and the public at large have come to expect from InterVideo."
The software, available to end-users, OEMs, artists, music portals and other Web-based music content owners, has all the features music aficionados have come to expect from top-quality MP3 record/playback software. WinRip offers CD-to-MP3 file transfer, user-defined music file management, smart search capability (artist, genre, etc.), and DSP effects such as echo, surround, and concert hall. WinRip also lets users change the look and feel of the product with a number of downloadable "skins", and enables them to enhance the playback environment with colorful graphics that respond to music tempo and dynamics.
Additionally, WinRip users can click through to artist and special interest sites, MP3 portals and more via a number of hot links. When combined with several other elements of the WinCinema suite -- WinDVR(TM), WinDTV(TM), and InterVideo's award-winning signature product, WinDVD(TM) -- music and video lovers will enjoy a single, convergent environment for all major forms of entertainment media.
With IDI, artists and users alike can type in lyrics manually or from one of the many online sources. WinRip includes a simple editor to streamline the process of entering and synchronizing lyrics. A special version will be available only to content producers to add additional value to their offerings. Biographies, anecdotes and historical background, production notes, tour dates and ticket outlets, special offers, music reviews, merchandise links and more can be added to any MP3 file to increase listeners' enjoyment of various performances, all while maintaining the standard MP3 file format.
Trial versions of WinRip will be available as a free download from the InterVideo site. For full WinRip product information, trial downloads of other WinCinema modules, or more information on any of InterVideo's full lineup of multimedia products, visit the InterVideo Web site at www.intervideo.com.
