Synplicity Names Hewlett-Packard Executive to Board of Directors; Scott Stallard Appointed To Share Networking Expertise

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2000
Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software products for the rapid and effective design and verification of semiconductors for Internet infrastructure and other electronic devices, today announced it has named Scott Stallard, vice president and general manager of the Business Systems and Technology Organizations at Hewlett-Packard, to its board of directors. During his 25-year career at Hewlett-Packard, Stallard has been involved in all aspects of Hewlett-Packard's server business.

Stallard joined Hewlett-Packard in 1975 and was involved in the development of the HP1000 E & F and HP3000 series computer systems, Series 800 and 900 low-midrange server families and the HP9000 Kittyhawk. He was also involved in the investigation and early implementation of Hewlett-Packard's 32-bit architecture. He has managed Hewlett-Packard's netserver business, networking and enclosures business and Japan PC operations. Currently, he oversees the development of world-class components and systems in the UNIX and Linux marketplaces.
Stallard holds a BSEE from the University of California Berkeley, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
