Weyerhaeuser Names Dempster as Leader of Business Development for Wood Products

Rod Dempster, formerly vice president of Weyerhaeuser's (NYSE:WY) Western Oriented Strand Board (OSB) business, has accepted the position of vice president of Business Development for the company's Wood Products businesses, effective immediately.
Dempster, who has served as VP of Western OSB for the past five years, will remain in Edmonton, Alta., and will continue to report to William R. Corbin, executive vice president of Wood Products for Weyerhaeuser.
Dempster will focus on new business development opportunities in Wood Products, including Trus Joist engineered lumber and OSB supply chain optimization.
"We have a significant opportunity to integrate the knowledge between these businesses," said Tom Denig, Trus Joist president, "and Rod has the background and experience to help us identify business opportunities and make faster progress in developing them." Dempster's business role includes leader of the Weyerhaeuser Wood Products Safety Council and lead on the Wood Products eCommerce and SAP Blueprint Teams. He is a member of the Weyerhaeuser One-Company Advisory Board, the Environmental, Health and Safety Council, the Engineered Wood Products Council and the Wood Products Lead Team.
Dempster joined Weyerhaeuser in 1991 as sales and marketing manager for Western OSB. Before that, he served as vice president and controller for Pelican Spruce Mills, acquired by Weyerhaeuser in 1990. His previous business experience includes OSB, lumber, distribution, timberlands, sales and transportation. Dempster has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Alberta and a CMA from the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
