Portal Will Provide Customer Management and Billing Software

for Application Service Providers Hosting Microsoft's

Messaging and Collaboration Platform

Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRSF), a leading provider of business infrastructure software for Internet and next-generation communications services, announced today that it will enable Infranet(R), its customer management and billing platform, to meet the needs of Application Service Providers (ASPs) hosting Microsoft's (Nasdaq:MSFT) Exchange 2000. ASPs will be able to use Infranet's powerful platform to maximize the value and revenue potential of their Exchange 2000 offering.

Infranet and Exchange 2000 will be directly integrated, with Infranet being the first billing vendor on the Exchange 2000 platform. Infranet's flexible, real-time functionality will enable ASPs to support services, manage customer accounts and collect payment from businesses of all sizes, from small organizations to large distributed enterprises, using the Exchange 2000 platform. Infranet takes advantage of the technology included in Exchange 2000 Hosting Pack, specifically its provisioning services design to ease the administration of hosted Exchange services.

"With the launch of Exchange 2000, Portal Software is prepared to provide advanced customer management and billing capabilities to ASPs hosting Microsoft's reliable messaging solution," said Stan Sorensen, group product manager, Server Applications at Microsoft. "Infranet's flexibility will support the different business models of ASPs hosting Exchange 2000, allowing them to optimize their service and pricing plans."

"Portal is pleased to support Microsoft's industry-leading messaging and collaboration platform," said Bob Vieraitis, vice president of product marketing for Portal Software. "Infranet will enable ASPs to easily support existing Exchange 2000 features, as well as evolving features such as new forms of collaboration and access to information through wireless devices."
