LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2000

Segue Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEGU), the leader in e-business reliability solutions, today announced that IBM (NYSE: IBM) has acquired the right to begin distributing Segue Software's new SilkPreview monitoring tool in selective editions of IBM's WebSphere Commerce. This initiative will look to expand the market reach of Segue's e-business monitoring software.

WebSphere Commerce Suite is an integrated solution that offers companies all the tools they need to become successful e-businesses. Since launching WebSphere Commerce Suite two years ago, IBM has been delivering reliability, scalability and security features to thousands of prestigious worldwide customers in the business-to-consumer, business- to-business, service providers and e-marketplace segments.

SilkPreview is a Web performance monitoring solution based on the proven technology of Segue's SilkPerformer. SilkPreview was specifically designed to be a user-friendly introduction to Segue's solutions, which deliver scalability, performance and monitoring programs for e-business Web sites. When using SilkPreview, users simply enter the URL addresses of up to five Web sites and select how often they would like each site to be monitored; SilkPreview then dynamically displays the response time for each site.

"Including SilkPreview with the WebSphere Commerce Suite will enhance the complete package of e-business solutions for customers," said Sandy Carter, vice president, e-Commerce, IBM. "SilkPreview will provide customers with a user-friendly experience for Web site monitoring. By simultaneously monitoring their own site as well as several similar sites, a user can benchmark their own response levels and take any necessary corrective actions."

"Segue and IBM are committed to the same goal: providing customers with the technology and tools necessary for a reliable, smoothly functioning e-business," said Tom Boyle, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Segue Software, Inc. "By including Segue's SilkPreview in the WebSphere Commerce Suite, IBM is offering the strength and reliability of Segue's e-business technology. We believe that users will benefit from their experience with SilkPreview's monitoring capabilities and look to Segue for expanded capabilities."
