MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 2000
Walk-On Appearance on 'Will & Grace,' 'Providence,' 'DAG'
or 'Passions' Part of Largest Contest in Personal TV Industry
ReplayTV Inc. is about to get "up close and personal" today as it kicks off its Winning Ticket sweepstakes, the largest customer promotion in the personal television industry. As the leader in personal television, ReplayTV will reward a lucky winner with tickets to any sporting event -- including the Super Bowl and World Series -- and a walk-on appearance on one of four NBC-TV shows. The NBC shows include "Will & Grace," which recently won three Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series; "Providence," the Friday night drama starring Melina Kanakaredes; "Passions," the Emmy-winning daytime drama from creator James Reilly; or "DAG," the new Tuesday night comedy series starring David Alan Grier and Delta Burke. The winner will receive airfare and hotel accommodations with both trips.
With the purchase of any ReplayTV digital video recorder now through the holiday season, customers will receive a $100 rebate and be entered into the Winning Ticket contest. The winner will be chosen next February. Sporting event tickets can be for any event held in the U.S. through Spring 2002. The NBC walk-on appearance will be planned according to the show's shooting schedule.
"ReplayTV is all about making television more fun and exciting. Recording shows digitally, for example, makes it a cinch to manage all the choices out there in a 150-channel world, and features like QuickSkip(TM) let people jump over the boring parts in 30-second bursts. With digital rewind and instant replay, they can see their favorite scenes again and again. It supercharges people's television experience, which is what we want our Winning Ticket sweepstakes to reflect," said Mike Williams, director of marketing for ReplayTV Inc.
According to Williams, ReplayTV listened to ideas from employees, customers and partners. "Rather than just giving out the usual cash or prizes, the Winning Ticket sweepstakes gives ReplayTV users an opportunity to attend a live TV event like the Super Bowl or World Series, and actually be in a prime time TV show. These are experiences TV fans dream about but rarely if ever get to experience."
"Personal television is radically changing the way people watch TV," said John Miller, president of The NBC Agency. "This innovative sweepstakes which brings television fans closer than ever to their favorite actors and shows is the kind of out-of-the-box approach that makes us pleased to be partnered with ReplayTV."
With ReplayTV, viewers can pause, instant replay, rewind, QuickSkip, frame advance and watch in slow motion their favorite sports events and TV shows. Using ReplayTV personal television technology with the free ReplayTV Service, viewers don't have to miss their favorite programs because ReplayTV automatically searches, finds and records them for anytime playback. Viewers can also create personal channels based on themes or shows. Every time viewers sit down to watch TV, the most current episodes of their favorite shows will be available on ReplayTV.
