BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 2000

Attachmate Corporation announced today the release of Attachmate(R) e-Vantage(R) Host Access Server 2.3, the latest version of Attachmate's Web-based host access management solution.

Attachmate e-Vantage Host Access Server 2.3 introduces management console support on IBM's OS/390(R) mainframe and AS/400(R) host platforms, in addition to server platform support on Sun(TM)Solaris(TM)HP/UX(R), AIX(R) and LINUX(R) operating systems.

For Microsoft(R) environments, e-Vantage Host Access Server 2.3 is also a Windows(R) 2000 Ready solution. Additionally, the new Enterprise Viewer 2000 client license provides a Windows 2000 Certified, multi-host access, desktop client.

e-Vantage Host Access Server is an easy-to-deploy, secure solution that enables enterprises to extend access to existing host applications to any Web browser. These organizations can provide access to employees and business partners outside the firewall, resulting in improved service levels and drastically reduced or eliminated costs of leased-line dial-up access methods. e-Vantage Host Access Server v2.3 offers fully integrated security services for strong encryption and authentication and centralized management enhancements ranging from concurrent metering and recording of e-Vantage Viewer usage to multi-vendor Directory Services support. Full-featured, 100 percent Pure Java Certified e-Vantage Viewers deployed from the e-Vantage Host Access Server offer an array of productivity and task automation enhancements such as Dynamic Feature Download and macro support.

Megan Miller, marketing director for e-Vantage, noted Web-to-host implementations are increasingly driven by larger e-business initiatives. "Organizations are finding that Web-based host access management provided by e-Vantage Host Access Server is a key component of a sound e-business strategy. As they move beyond Intranet deployments to extend host application access to vendors, business partners and customers over the Web, e-Vantage solutions provide robust management tools and security to extend host access with total confidence."

Pricing and Availability

e-Vantage Host Access Server has a U.S. suggested retail price of $214. Shared workstation e-Vantage Viewer client licenses are available at $189 or an array of combined e-Vantage Viewer and desktop client options. e-Vantage Host Access Server is currently available from Attachmate resellers, retailers and VARs and the Attachmate sales organization.
