MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2000
FindLaw, Inc., the pioneer and leader in online legal information and services, expanded its offerings today with the FindLaw Lawyer Directory (http://directory.findlaw.com), a massive database with over 500,000 lawyer and law firm listings.
The FindLaw Lawyer Directory, which is searchable by practice area, location and name, is the first in a series of FindLaw's new suite of services that connect businesses and consumers with legal professionals. In the coming weeks, FindLaw will announce the releases of the other offerings in this suite, enabling businesses and consumers to sign up for pre-paid legal services, receive fixed-fee legal services or request quotes for legal services.
"As the most highly trafficked legal Web site, FindLaw is the ideal place for a powerful lawyer directory," says FindLaw co-founder Stacy Stern. "FindLaw generates the traffic and has the critical mass necessary to create a successful legal marketplace online. In less than a year we were able to build the number one online legal recruiting business. We expect the FindLaw Lawyer Directory to meet with great success."
The FindLaw Lawyer Directory provides lawyers and law firms with free standard listings. Legal professionals and firms also can purchase premium listings, which offer superior search placement, enhanced visual presentation and the ability to include more information to those searching the directory. For increased exposure, FindLaw offers a range of high-visibility advertising opportunities. Legal professionals and firms also can continue to create their own free Web sites through FindLaw's critically acclaimed Firms Online service.
"Legal marketing is a $4-billion-dollar-a-year industry," notes Michael Goldblatt, legal marketing expert and associate general counsel of Tidewater, Inc. "The Internet is revolutionizing the way people find legal solutions and the way lawyers market themselves. The FindLaw Lawyer Directory provides an easy way for the public to find attorneys, and for attorneys to be found."
