BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2000
Unisys Corporation continues to enhance its award winning Unisys e-@ction Business Process Solutions e-workflow and imaging software with the integration of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) into Release 5.0.
The flexibility offered by VBA enables Unisys clients to customize their solutions at a much lower implementation cost than ever before and reduce training requirements by using staff already knowledgeable in Visual Basic.
"Unisys is a key partner for Microsoft, and we're thrilled with their commitment to VBA," said Chris Atkinson -- vice president, Web Services and Platform Marketing, Microsoft. "Unisys strong presence in key industries will help drive VBA to become a successful tool for clients transforming workflow processes to support their e-business operations."
The Unisys software completed VBA logo compliance certification by Veritest last month. This certification will also allow Unisys clients to capitalize on the work of the more than three million professional VBA developers for customizing and integrating Unisys feature-rich workflow solutions.
The Unisys workflow and imaging solution takes advantage of the VBA "wizards" in Release 5.0, which walk users through simple or complex operations. Tight integration between VBA and host applications ensures the fastest performance.
Unisys e-@ction Business Process Solutions include e-workflow, imaging, document management, web technology, and COLD (Computer Output to Laser Disk) for end-to-end solutions that support and automate business processes.
Unisys e-workflow is the conduit for moving clients through the e-business process, by tightly joining the front-office, where e-commerce and customer interaction occur, with the back-office business systems.
Release 5.0 of Unisys e-@ction Business Process Solutions began shipping in June with significant enhancements in workflow, imaging, enterprise management, XML based e-forms and a browser based Client Work Manager. This new release provides the ability to integrate -- more quickly than ever -- the product capabilities with Unisys proven vertical industry expertise.
The familiar Microsoft VBA interface is an important enabler that enhances the flexibility of application customization.
"Release 5.0 brings together the power of e-workflow and imaging to e-business solutions by streamlining business transactions and by providing process coordination," said Jay DeWalt, program director for Unisys. "With the official VBA compliance certification status, clients can now be assured of proper integration and seamless data sharing with existing systems, affording them a truly transparent workflow process that enables them to conduct e-business more efficiently."
