CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 2000

Attachmate(R) DATABridge(TM) v 4.0 offers an ideal solution for data replication capable of providing access in near real-time to Unisys(R) ClearPath(TM) HMP NX/LX and A Series DMSII data for decision support or integrating production data into a data warehouse or data mart.

Building on the established functionality of previous versions, Attachmate DATABridge v 4.0 provides users and developers access to selected data tables without impacting the production database making e-business solutions safer and easier.

"Critical information is now available (with Attachmate DATABridge v 4.0) for day-to-day business decisions," said Kevin Monaghan, CIO of PRIDE Enterprises. "Accessing enterprise data in a timely manner has provided us with a definite competitive edge -- the edge we need in today's environment."

Because it works against the DMSII audit files, Attachmate DATABridge v 4.0 replicates a DMSII database without shutting it down. As a result, mission critical applications run unaffected. Additionally, the production data is secure from unauthorized access and inadvertent changes to the content because queries operate against the replicated database -- not the production system.

"With a replicated database, there is no possibility of a performance hit on the production system because queries are run against the replicated data," explained Cheryl Hicks, senior product marketing manager, Attachmate Corporation.

New features of DATABridge v4.0

-- The new DMSII Client performs selected clones and updates, replicating the
data to another DMSII data table on the Unisys mainframe. This flexible client
allows a large percentage of work to be off-loaded from production systems

-- Support for long DMSII item names (up to 30 characters supported) and
Windows(R) clients for Oracle(R) and SQL Server that are Windows 2000-ready

-- Support for event-driven updates adds performance functionality and allows
updates to be performed automatically as audit files become available

Attachmate DATABridge continues to support the latest level of DMSII and DMSII XE available upon release.
