Nortel Networks Leverages Vitria's Integration
Platform to Deliver Pre-integrated OSS Solution
Vitria Technology (Nasdaq:VITR) and Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT) (TSE:NT) today announced an agreement to embed BusinessWare(R) in Nortel Networks pre-integrated OSS solution for service providers. Vitria's BusinessWare delivers key interconnection and integration capabilities to Nortel Networks new generation service commerce OSS solution, complementing the solution's existing workflow and process automation functionality and facilitating integration with third party vendor's applications.
These next-generation service fulfillment solutions for telecommunications firms are designed to enable a new level of OSS process automation and competitive differentiation, while significantly lowering the initial and ongoing systems integration costs, speeding time to service availability and maximizing return on new services.
With this agreement, Nortel Networks and Vitria are answering the demand of telecommunications carriers who have OSS automation needs. Nortel Networks offers a comprehensive, pre-integrated OSS solution that facilitates the deployment of multiple new generation services, including IP VPN, DSL, wireless and optical services, within the same operational environment. The solution integrates a full suite of functional OSS capabilities, including customer relationship management, service fulfillment, service assurance and billing. Vitria BusinessWare will be part of the solution's underlying service integration hub, facilitating interconnection of third party applications through its pre-packaged software connectors and business processes.
The integration of Vitria BusinessWare in Nortel Networks OSS solution will give service providers the flexibility to easily implement the solution alongside their existing OSS applications, such as existing databases and billing applications.
"Joining with a world-class company like Nortel Networks insures our place as the standard in the telecommunications market for ebusiness automation," said JoMei Chang, president and CEO of Vitria Technology. "Integrating Vitria within Nortel Networks' offerings will extend the reach and exposure of our telecommunications offerings in high growth segments like optical and wireless."
"The high-performance Internet has opened up a new world of opportunity for service providers to deliver innovative services to their customers, while faced with the challenges of their traditional OSS environment," said Steve Nicolle, senior vice president, service provider eBusiness solutions, Nortel Networks. "BusinessWare integration will help our customers leverage their existing investment and facilitate the transition to a next generation service commerce environment, built around Nortel Networks Preside and Clarify portfolios."
This integration also complements other solutions within the Nortel Networks Preside portfolio, including the web and enterprise application integration and management capabilities of Preside Managed Application Services Platform. Together, the complete solution set delivers powerful OSS and BSS (Business Support Systems) capabilities along with the ability to easily manage applications, services and the network infrastructure.
