REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2000

(NASDAQ:CICI) Communication Intelligence Corporation ("CIC"), the leading supplier of natural input and electronic signature solutions, announced today that it will demonstrate several software offerings at the 9th Annual Financial Technology Expo, on October 3-5, 2000 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

CIC is the pioneer and leader in biometric electronic signature technology. Almost a decade ago, CIC licensed its electronic signature technology to NCR Corporation for a point-of-sale application, the first of its kind. In 1996 CIC provided Chase Manhattan Bank with the technology for electronic submission and processing of mortgage loan pool applications for Ginnie Mae involving billions of dollars in transactions. Today CIC's suite of biometric signature products coupled with its multilingual handwriting recognition solutions enable enterprise applications utilizing a variety of input devices including digitizer tablets from Interlink and Wacom, PDAs from Palm, Inc. (NASDAQ:PALM), and Smartphones, such as the revolutionary new Ericsson R380 from Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (NASDAQ:ERICY).

"There is a great deal of confusion in the market as to the definition of digital and electronic signatures," said Jeff Sandler, Vice President Worldwide Sales for CIC. "Our products differentiate themselves from others because our products are based on biometrics, steeped in proven science. CIC's electronic signature software gives the enterprise the power of identifying the signature as unique to the individual who signs it which is critical in minimizing fraud and improving security. A person's electronic signature is derived from their normal handwriting not some new process or procedure. Many people consider other forms of biometric signatures like retinal scan and fingerprints to be invasive and are unwilling to use them. In addition, other digital signatures only manifest a signature in computer readable form leaving the door open to impersonation and misrepresentation."
