E.NORTHPORT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2000
17,000 Users Worldwide Protected by Antigen
Sybari Software, Inc., the premier antivirus and security specialist for groupware solutions today announced that it was selected to provide antivirus protection to Clear Channel Communications, Inc., (NYSE:CCU) a global leader in the out-of-home advertising industry with radio and television stations and outdoor displays in 40 countries around the world. With a comprehensive Exchange environment consisting of over 17,000 users worldwide, Clear Channel needed an unwavering antivirus solution to provide superior protection for their demanding infrastructure.
"Our current installed antivirus solution for Exchange did not provide us with the necessary protection of our mail servers," said Shawn McHenry, corporate Exchange administrator, Clear Channel Information Technologies. " We wanted first-class virus protection with file and content filtering. Antigen's ability to process the messages before they get posted into the message store was pivotal in our decision making process."
By developing a better understanding of the message platforms, Sybari has created advanced methods in antivirus protection, such as in-memory scanning and a two-pronged approach for scanning of Exchange environments, which increase reliability and minimize the performance impact of adding antivirus protection to an Exchange environment. , Antigen includes a real-time scanning process at the Information Store and a real-time scanning process for the Internet Mail Service. Messages scanned by the IMS scanner are not re-scanned by information store scanner.
"Our focus at Sybari is the highly specialized protection of groupware environments, in order to prevent incidents which threaten productivity," said Tom Buoniello, vice president of product management for Sybari Software. "By providing a multiple protection point solution that reduces the overall performance impact of integrated security, Sybari is able to deliver true antivirus and security protection to users and administrators of Microsoft Exchange."
"Sybari also came through with exemplary support," continued McHenry. "By responding to our needs, they show genuine customer concern. Antigen has become an integral part of our ongoing security vigilance."
