NEW YORK & SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2000
Register.com customers can now register domain names with the .cc
extension in real time directly from the register.com home page
Register.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: RCOM), one of the leading domain name registrars on the Internet, and eNIC Corporation, the global registry for .cc domain names, today announced the addition of .cc registration services to the register.com site, allowing register.com customers to register names in real time with the .cc extension.
The popular ccTLD now sits alongside the .com, .net, and .org option boxes on register.com's (http://www.register.com) homepage, enabling customers to process registrations for .cc names through register.com's signature 6-Step process. In addition, register.com customers can also obtain customized email accounts at their new .cc domain (eg. me@mybusiness.cc).
"We are very excited about our new relationship with .cc and the potential for growth it has for both of our companies," said Richard Forman, CEO and President of register.com. "Placing .cc on our featured extension bar gives our customers the opportunity to register domain names with a recognizable and desirable extension, along with greater selection when choosing a domain name. This is just the latest example of our continued commitment to provide our customers with the widest possible variety of domain products."
We believe .cc can become as desirable worldwide, if not more so, than the .com extension," said Brian Cartmell, Chief Executive Officer of eNIC. "A key ingredient to desirability is availability. We plan to have .cc offered everywhere you can purchase a .com. By adding .cc extension to the register.com site, we are allowing an increasingly large audience the opportunity to register a .cc domain name easily and affordably with a registrar they know and trust."
The .cc extension is available to register.com customers for $100 per two-year registration. Customers who register a domain name ending in .cc will also benefit from register.com's various value-added services, including FirstStepSite, Free URL Forwarding, a free email account through Critical Path, Domain Fast Find, and Domain Manager. The .cc represents the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
